Relay For Life is an emotionally charged, 24 hour team event. It is open to everyone in the community, with teams of 10 to 15 people challenging themselves to keep their baton moving in a relay style walk or run around the Australian Institute of Sport Athletics Track. In 2017 the event is being held over the weekend of Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th March 2017.
It’s the world’s largest fundraising event, held in more than 20 countries. North Canberra Relay For Life in the has grown substantially from raising $39,000 in 2000 to over $650,000 in 2014 - making it the largest fundraising event in the ACT.
The event involves on-site overnight camping and enjoys a community festival atmosphere with entertainment including local bands, food stalls, live performances, games and family activities held throughout the 24 hours. The event is a great way for the Canberra community to get together and have some fun, while at the same time raising awareness and much needed funds for Cancer Council ACT.
Relay is full of special moments, none more so than the candle lighting ceremony at dusk - a moving time of reflection and remembrance as participants light candles that line the track to support those living with cancer and to honour those lost to the disease.
So get your team together, start fundraising and join us for this fun and memorable event. Registrations are now open!
