Free Mindfulness Group

ACT Health's Cancer Counselling Service is offering a free mindfulness based skills group program run over 6 weeks for people who have been a given a diagnosis of cancer and who have had or are receiving treatment.

Living with cancer is a stressful time involving a range of emotional, social and psychological reactions as well as physical changes. The program will enable you to:

  • Learn about mindfulness and its benefits
  • Find out about ways to manage your stress, difficult thoughts and emotions
  •  Care for yourself when you are feeling vulnerable, uncertain and worried
  • Develop ways to manage the changes to your health, body image, relationships and life values
  • Discover ways to rejuvenate and energise yourself
  • Learn something new  about how to look after yourself
  • Have the opportunity to practice some mindfulness exercises
  • Share your experiences with others who are in a similar situation

 Mindfulness helps gently bring mind and body together

Date:  Tuesdays 24, 31 October  14, 21, 28 November and 5 December 2017

Time:  2 to 3:30 pm

Location: Phillip Health Centre, Corinna St Phillip

The Cancer Counselling Service also has other mindfulness groups on offer

  • Mindful Moments - A drop in group that meets every Wednesday from 9:30am-11:00am at Belconnen Health Centre
  • Mindful Way - A drop in group for inpatients, outpatients and family caregivers. Meets at the Canberra Region Cancer Centre, alternate Fridays.
