In the last decade, a number of charities throughout the ACT have been supported by funds raised at the annual Steve Doszpot MLA Trivia Night and after Steve’s passing last November, this year is no exception.
Once again it will be a bipartisan event as Members of both sides of the Legislative Assembly join forces to remember a true Statesman and raise funds this year for the Cancer Council ACT.
CEO of the Cancer Council ACT, Sandra Turner, says it’s a privilege to be the charity selected to be the recipient of funds raised in honour of the work Steve has done for so many in the past.
“We are so pleased to be involved,” said Sandra.
“The event planned in Steve’s honour is testament to the high regard he was held by all Members of the Legislative Assembly and a wonderful way to remember him.
“The night will have its usual fun and frivolity that it’s become known for, as that’s what Steve would have wanted and I’m sure he will be there in spirit with us all,” Sandra said.
Participants will be encouraged by a willing band of Cancer Council ACT staff and volunteers to have fun and spend generously on the silent and live auction items throughout the night.
Steve’s wife Maureen will be Guest of Honour, Greg Bayliss from the ABC will MC the proceedings and Auctioneer on the night will be Mark Parton MLA.
The Trivia Night, which is on Friday night June 15th, has been planned by Jeremy Hanson, MLA, and a committed team of willing contributors.
Tickets are available through www.actcancer.org and a light supper is included.
The event will be officially launched at the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday 29th May, 2018.
