Brandon (8 years old) and Angel (6 years old) got into making old-fashioned lemonade using lemons from their grandmother’s tree and a recipe from the internet.
Their father, Harley, was having an open house to the public on Sustainable House Day and thought it would be a good opportunity for the kids to sell lemonade for charity.
When Harley asked Angel which charity she would like to support, she said a cancer charity.
Lots of people around Angel have been touched by cancer. Last year her school teacher died from cancer, her Principal resigned after being diagnosed with breast cancer and a neighbour is battling breast cancer too.
The kids helped cut and squeeze the lemons, both making and selling the homemade lemonade. On the day, they had 216 visitors go through the house. They manned their stall for four hours straight, sold 50 cups of lemonade and raised over $100 for Cancer Council ACT.
