I have been involved with Cancer Council ACT for many years. It all started with the Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, in my workplace. With the help and support of Cancer Council ACT it was a big success. Now the other departments in the building have one.
My husband (after having cancer and in remission), and I having retired, decided to volunteer and to help as much as we could with Cancer Council ACT.
We helped out with the fundraising of Daffodil Day and Pink Ribbon. Cancer Council ACT is very supportive and we have met a lot of very nice people along the way.
When Cancer Council ACT needed someone to help out with Tobacco Control, I volunteered. I helped out with the Quit Packs, stuffing the envelopes with information. I even took some to my workplace, as I really believe the information is important to stop smoking.
Cancer Council ACT provides so much to the community and I really value their contribution.
