We want to extend an enormous thank you to everyone who came together to save this Daffodil Day Appeal 2021!
Whether you donated, registered to fundraise or purchased daffodils, your Flower Power played a big role in working towards our vision of a cancer free future.
Like many others, we have also been impacted by COVID-19 and the recent lockdown in the ACT. Sadly, we had to cancel our traditional daffodil stalls, just two weeks out from the event, and our fundraising efforts took a hit because of it, with funds being down 40%.
Luckily, we were very fortunate to have Canberra FM as our media partners, as throughout the Appeal and during lockdown, Mix106.3 and Hit104.7 kept the Flower Power alive by delivering fresh bunches of daffodils to our ACT community.
This year we saw businesses and individuals rally together in support of Canberra FM’s special delivery service. A number donated their daffodils to hardworking health staff at COVID-19 testing clinics, while others delivered some joy to those who were in isolation.
With help from our wonderful community, they managed to raise an amazing effort of $10,883, making them our highest Daffodil Day Yellow Fundraisers for 2021! A big thank you to Canberra FM and all the businesses and individuals that showed their support even during lockdown.
If you missed the special story on the incredible and inspiring Sarah McGoram, as to why our Daffodil Day Appeal is so important, from the amazing team at Canberra Weekly, you can read that here.
Again, we thank the ACT community for their incredible support that made this Daffodil Day possible. You’ve shown your Flower Power in a big way, during these difficult times and it’s because of you that we were able to raise over $46,000, with all funds raised going towards lifesaving cancer research here in the ACT.
