Cancer Council ACT is pleased to announce the launch of its VAPE Support programs, aimed at addressing vaping and nicotine use amongst Canberra's young people and other groups at high risk of vaping.
Supported by the ACT Government under the ACT Health Directorate’s Healthy Canberra Grants, these initiatives are delivered to schools, sports organisations, and community services providing tailored resources, education sessions, brief intervention training, and support to address vaping and nicotine use within their communities.
Cancer Council ACT’s CEO, Verity Hawkins, emphasised the critical need for these efforts in supportive community settings.
“With nearly one in seven young Australians currently vaping, and many trying to quit, our VAPE Support programs provide crucial education, training, and support to those organisations working closely with our youth and priority populations,” Hawkins stated.
“These initiatives are a huge step forward in helping young people in the ACT understand the harmful effects of vaping and nicotine use, supporting those seeking to quit, and building healthier communities,” she added.
