4 February 2025 marks 25 years of World Cancer Day - a time to reflect on how far we’ve come, and the work still ahead.
This year’s World Cancer Day theme, ‘United by Unique,’ underscores the importance of recognising and respecting each person’s individual cancer experience.
Cancer is more than a medical diagnosis—it’s a deeply personal experience that impacts individuals, families, and communities in unique ways. By coming together, we can create a future where we see the person behind the diagnosis, and no one faces cancer alone.
Verity Hawkins, CEO of Cancer Council ACT, stated “Cancer affects each person differently and cancer care needs to reflect this. True impact comes from care that is compassionate, empathetic and tailored to individual needs.
At Cancer Council ACT, we are committed to providing prevention programs and cancer information and support services that meet the diverse needs of our community.”
As part of World Cancer Day, Cancer Council ACT is proud to attend the Cancer Services and Support Expo (3–6 February) at the Canberra Region Cancer Centre, joining other providers in the sector to connect locals with relevant support and services.
Visitors to the Cancer Services and Support Expo can learn more about the local cancer support services available through Cancer Council ACT and other providers to meet their individual needs. By working together, we can strengthen our collective response to cancer care and improve outcomes for all.
Together, it’s all of us against cancer.
