Quitline provides a free, confidential telephone service to assist you in the process of quitting smoking. You can call Quitline on 13 7848 (13 QUIT) for the cost of a local call from a landline (with higher costs from mobile phones) to speak to a specially trained quit smoking advisor. Quitline advisors can provide information, advice, support and encouragement to assist you to plan and develop strategies to quit smoking and stay quit.
You can call Quitline as many times as you wish, or you can use the Quitline call-back service. Quitline advisors will talk to you about receiving ongoing calls to support you throughout your quit smoking journey. For example, the first day can be the day before or on your quit smoking date, one week after you have quit and then to follow up 3, 6 and 12 months after you have quit.
ACT Quitline Advisors are available:
- Monday to Friday: 7am to 10:30pm
- Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 9am to 5pm
You can leave a message 24/7 (remember to leave your name and phone number) and an advisor will call you back.
With your consent, your GP or other health professional can also refer you to Quitline to receive a free call-back at a time that suits you. Download a GP Referral to Quitline Form.
Please note that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Quitline advisors are also available to assist.
