Community Awareness

Canberra Show 2014Being SunSmart when UV levels are 3 and above is an important public health and community message, and Cancer Council ACT can assist your efforts to share this message at your next outdoor event.

Is your community organisation, school or workplace planning an outdoor event? If so, do you need more shade, do you want to raise SunSmart awareness?

SunSmart Events Package

Local organisations can take advantage of a Cancer Council SunSmart Events Package, it includes:

  • a 3m x 3m shade marquee
  • a generous discount on your sunscreen online purchase (if you require sunscreen)
  • posters/brochures (upon request).

To borrow a SunSmart Events Package please complete and submit an online booking form.

During summer Cancer Council ACT encourages your workplace, school or community group to plan its outdoor event to primarily occur outside the daily peak UV period (11am-3pm) because this is the time of the year when daily UV levels soar to VERY HIGH and EXTREME levels and the risk of sunburn and skin damage is significantly increased.

Organisations will be expected to pick up and return the package from the Cancer Council ACT office (a station wagon or equivalent will be required). To reserve the SunSmart Event Package for your next event complete and submit the online booking form today.
