Improve your long game - tees off in Canberra Summer 2019

Improve your long game is a sun protection program that was developed by Cancer Council NSW for NSW golf clubs. It aims to improve the sun protection behaviours among recreational golfers and specifically targets men over the age of 40. This is because we know that Aussie men love to play golf but men over 40 years of age are also 2.5 times more likely to die from melanoma, compared to women of a similar age.  We also know that UV radiation is responsible for the vast majority (95%) of  melanomas in Australia  - which means that most melanomas can be prevented by adopting simple but effective sun protection measures.

Now in its 6th year in NSW,  Cancer Council NSW is confident the program works and is making an impact, which is why  Cancer Council ACT will introduce the program across the ACT starting with 3 ACT golf clubs Summer 2019:  Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club, RMC Golf Club and Magpies Belconnen Golf Club.

Watch this space as we plan to introduce more ACT golf clubs to the program over the next few summers.
